TERM 3

On Tuesday at assembly we performed 'THe Climb' In ASL to the school.

Liam wrote this poem in response to a book he read.
It is very moving and was publ.ished in our school newsletter.

WAR HEROES

Throughout the shelling.

The soldiers are telling.

When in the ground the soldier's found.

The bud.

Of a poppy as red as blood.

Years ago.
We went below.
To watch the poppy grow.

So remember row on row.

TERM 3

Our theme this term is 'Getting Connected'.

We started the term by identifying what we already know about the community we live in.
Next we shared our questions and wonderings.
These helped us focus on our topic for inquicry.

So far we have decided that we want to know more about our school.
We want to know:
  • Who have been pupils here then gone on to achieve great things?
  • What was it like to go to this school in the past?
  • Did they have a swimming pool?
  • Did they have a uniform?
  • What did they used to play?
  • Where did they get thier information from when learning?
  • Did they have computers?
  • Did they use fearther quill pens?
  • What things make our school special?
  • Who were the first students at our school?

Term 2

As a result of learning about sight and sound in Term 2, our class organised a Wacky Hair Day and Coin Trail to raise funds to help train a seeing eye dog for the blind. It was a fantastic day! We raised $186.40

NZ SIGN LANGUAGE
We have been learning NZ Sign language and learned to sign Miley Cyrus 'The Climb" (ASL)

Ms Walmsley taught us how to make masks.

Learning in Term 1

In Term we got to know each other and set our classroom expectations.

For our Inquiry topic we explored values.
We had lots of questions like:
  • Where do we get them from.
  • How long do they last?
  • How can we grow our range of values?
  • Why are values important?

We learned we get our valuies from our family, friends, environment as well as the music we play and games we play.

CAMP WHAKAMARU
Camp was great fun for everyone.
We overcame challenges and cooperated in teams.
